In order to compare the banks in social, we set up search streams for each brand in the uberVU platform and compared the results from the past two weeks to determine our winner.

Round One: Mentions
When it comes to the overall number of mentions, Bank of America wins with ease with 58,731 mentions, almost doubling the 30,136 mentions of Wells Fargo.
As you can see from the graph Bank of America hit a spike in mentions on September 10th. We did some digging and found that was the day news broke that the Dow Index will drop Bank of America.
Round Two: Sentiment
In addition to the total number of mentions it’s also important to establish the overall sentiment of your brand. Are people talking negatively or positively about your brand? Both banks had fairly typically sentiment results for the financial industry, which tends to see low positivity scores. 16% of Bank of America’s mentions were positive and 19% of Wells Fargo’s mentions registered as positive. In a tough industry, Wells Fargo takes the win in sentiment.
Winner: Wells Fargo
Round Three: Engagement
A great way to establish which bank brand is best in social is to compare engagement. We’ve compared RTs, Likes and Shares to see which brand is driving the most engagement across Twitter and Facebook. Bank of America dominates in RTs and Likes. Wells Fargo fights back, easily winning Shares but it’s not enough to win the round.
Winner: Bank of America
Overall Winner: Bank of America
With wins in overall mentions and engagement we declare the winner of this Social Media Face Off to be Bank of America. Congrats! Your social check has been cashed.
