Critical Minute- How to Celebrate Independence Day

There’s a unique place in America where George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt are carved into stone.

It’s called Mt. Rushmore, and it’s a sculpture carved into a granite mountain face in South Dakota by Danish American Gutzon Borglum and his son, Lincoln. The monument attracts more than 3 million people annually, with the 4th of July being one of the more popular days.

Unfortunately for many visitors and fireworks revelers this year, the firework show is cancelled due to drier than normal conditions.

In similar circumstances: when the main attraction is cancelled, public relations professionals and event coordinators must think outside the box. That’s one of the reasons why the park service has enlisted the help of presidential re-enactors.

During a Presidential Press Conference, visitors can ask the questions that matter most, directly at men acting like our most celebrated presidents.  It’s a personal touch that precedes an Evening Lighting Ceremony… where words of remembrance and sacrifice are spoken… before the lights of history dim again.
