How does a company make a claim that a product will last up to say 25 years...?

How does a company make a claim that a product will last up to say 25 years, without actually testing the product for that amount of time? What kind of methods would they use to justify their claim?

Some items are tested over a 25 year span. Example: roof shingles.
Companies have methods to speed up wear and tear and therefore can calculate time frame.
Another example: vehicle tires.
