is the AT&T free wi-fi device a scam?

I got a thing in the mail saying i can choose one of three items: and Xbox 360, Kindle Fire, or Sonos Play:3
is there a catch? are they really going to send me one with no strings attached?
or do i have to sign up for some costly thing, or commit to something?

That's one I have not heard of but they are pretty fierce in marketing their fios stuff. Cell phone companies routinely subsidize the cost of your phone, an iPhone might be closer to $800 of bought with no contract, you get a $200 phone because they know they will get around $2000 from you over the next 2 years. I'm sure those freebies are just an incentive to get you to sign up for a service contract.

Sure does sound like a scam. I guarantee it's NOT FREE.
