Question

Becoming Wal-Mart Assistant Manager?

I have almost 2 years of retail experience, have earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and am approaching my 6 month date of availability to transfer between stores and departments. I meet minimum requirements for assistant manager training and would like to know how realistic of a goal it is to get this type of promotion.

The District Manager/Market Manager has the final say in who gets accepted into the program and who doesn't. If you are interested you have to take and pass the ''Tactful Leadership Test'' I think that's the name of it, that's found on the WIRE >>WORK>>CAREER PREFERENCE DASHBOARD>> MY INFO

Training usually lasts about 6-8 weeks and several of my Assistant Managers have said that most of the training is you being taught how to ''properly'' listen to Associates as well as customers.
They all say that the starting salry is not worh the added stress. Some Assistants start off between $35,000-$42,000.

My advice? get accepted into the managment program, complete it, stay an Assistant for maybe 6 months and leave the company all together, useing your Walmart knowledge to advance you in life
