Salesforce.com is undeniably successful, and the momentum continues for the company.  If you have attended DreamForce in the past, you’ve felt the buzz surrounding the company at the event and it seems to get bigger and better every year.  Because of their successful marketing and the larger than life image of company CEO Marc Benioff, we know a lot about Salesforce…but what do we really know about their users?

Mintigo’s latest infographic on “The DNA of Salesforce Users” shows some interesting points about the companies that use Salesforce.  Here are a few takeaways:

  1. Most Companies That Use Salesforce Are Not Large Enterprise

Conventional wisdom might suggest most Salesforce users are in the larger enterprise companies.  Mintigo’s data shows the opposite is the case.

Most of the companies who use Salesforce are under $50 million in annual sales.

  1. Companies That Use Salesforce Hires More Developers

One might also believe that Salesforce users might hire fewer developers, instead relying on “the cloud” features to reduce hiring of developers.  The opposite is the case. Companies that use Salesforce are more active than non-Salesforce users in hiring of business application developers, agile developers.  Also, companies who use Salesforce usually hire more business analysts and engineers.

  1. There Are More Companies That Use Salesforce With Marketo Than With Pardot or Eloqua

As you might expect, many marketing automation is a popular complimentary application for SalesForce users.  The most popular combination is Marketo and Salesforce in tandem.

Other conclusions from the data:

  • Complimentary sales application technologies include live chat, collaboration, conferencing
  • Adjoining data technologies are lead by Informatica and Oracle.
  • The technology indicators for marketing include using ad tools, marketing automation, webinars, white papers, blogs etc.
