I saw one post that said that the individual was thankful for being able to make money. It got me thinking, why are you making money? If you define your reasons for working hard it can keep you focused and consistent during times of challenge.

Money is not a goal.

Money is not a goal in and of itself. It’s the value that money can provide that is the real purpose to making money. For some it’s developing a sense of security, for others it’s providing a level of comfort for their family, for others it’s being able to flaunt a new sportscar. Whatever your reasons are, you should think about and define them.

A recent McKinsey survey found that some non-financial incentives are even more effective motivators than the highest-rated financial incentives. Even financial motivators have deeper ties, money in and of itself has no value, it’s the value that it creates in your life that enables it to have value in your life.

If you’re struggling with motivation, it may be time to reassess your motivators and the value behind profit for you.
