Your Ride: 1986 Buick Century Gran Sport

In 1973, Buick introduced the Century Gran Sport. The renamed Skylark soon became Buick’s go-to full-sized luxury car in the lineup. But after only two years, the V8-wielding coupe was done away with, and it wasn’t until 1986 that Buick decided to restore the Century Gran Sport nameplate for one final production run.

That’s where Scott’s ’86 Century Gran Sport comes in. Although the less-responsive V6 and automatic transmission might not have lived up to the grunt of the previous V8s, the one-and-done model year makes this Gran Sport truly unique. Here’s the full story:

How did you acquire your ride?

Found it on ebay in California, had it delivered to Michigan where I fully restored it.

What drew you to it when you bought it?

I was aware of this rare car and I had bought and parted four others in the process of trying to find a keeper, before finally finding one solid enough to put the hundreds of hours of restoration into.
