Twitter Chat – Market Research: Set your business up for success

We are planning a series of twitter chats on topics of value to all small businesses. We will be doing approximately one per month until the end of the year (with two in October). The first topic is "Market Research: Set your business up for success" and the importance of market research both to a small business starting out and establishing its focus and approach and also to existing small businesses looking to be competitive and understand how to grow. You can join in at 3:30 p.m. EST (12:30PM on the West Coast) on Thursday August 21st by following the hashtag #YSBAnswers.

For each twitter chat we will have an open discussion with a third party expert and moderated by Owen Linderholm, Editor for Yahoo Small Business.

For this first one, we will be speaking with Alex Withers, the vice president of marketing at Sageworks, where he oversees all marketing across both the ProfitCents and bank divisions, as well as new channels. Sageworks provides financial analysis and risk management solutions and provides research data that other businesses can use.

Prior to joining Sageworks in 2013, Alex was the general manager of digital business for Attivio, a Boston-based unified intelligence software company. Previously he was managing director of digital media for The United States Golf Association (USGA), responsible for all digital platforms, including U.S. Open digital operations. Before the USGA, he was marketing director for ESPN New Media, where he managed the marketing strategy and brand positioning for Prior to his work with ESPN, Alex oversaw marketing and digital initiatives for the Financial Times and Pepsi Cola.
