Article marketing is often misunderstood, yet it is an extremely simple and free method of promoting a business. Most people think of spammy article directories when they hear of article marketing, but guest posting on someone else’s blog can be an excellent way to market and as long as you write a nice, quality post, it isn’t spammy at all. It can help to write out a year’s worth of emails ahead of time, which can be done in a few days, if you’re fast at writing. It’s quite possible to send out just one or two emails a month. Make sure that they are useful to the readers or they will simply unsubscribe. Ads for your business won’t necessary get a big response, so consider writing informative emails, giving something away and then give a call to action at the end of the email.

Reports/Ebooks

While many people use ebooks as a giveaway to get email addresses or simply sell them, you can actually promote your business with a well written report that you offer around the Internet. The trick is to make it irresistible to people.

Start by choosing a topic that relates to your business and is something your target audience will want to know. Look on forums where your audience spends time to learn what their problems are, then write a 5-15 page report on it or outsource the writing. You can then turn the report into a PDF and distribute it around the internet.

There are a number of sites that will let you list a free ebook and if you add giveaway rights to it, you will encourage other people to give the book to their readers, as well. The end result, if done well, is that your report will be read by thousands. As long as you have information about your business in the book and a call to action at the end, it doesn’t matter who is giving the report away, because people will keep coming to your site.

Writing can be a very powerful means of promotion. If you don’t possess writing skills yourself, it shouldn’t be difficult to find someone who does.
