The Voice’s Blake Shelton Spends Birthday Rescuing Stranded Man In Oklahoma Flood

You trust him with picking the best singer and you might just trust him with your life. A man stranded by the flooding from Tropical Storm Bill did just that when his unexpected hero this week was country superstar Blake Shelton. And, he did this on his birthday. Shelton just turned 39.

Roho Hartman said he was headed home when the road he was traveling on turned into a river. Tropical storm Bill left many Oklahomans stranded.

“There was a car on the other side..he went through it. I thought ‘Huh, I believe I’d make it to,‘” he said.

Together he and the country superstar pulled the truck up the hill, but Hartman was still a long way from home and unable to navigate the watery roadways.

“I said, ‘Hey, could you give me a ride home?’ He said, ‘Where do you live?’ I said, ‘Just right over yonder,'” Hartman recalled.

When Hartman’s wife called asking where he was, he told her that they were about to have a very cool visitor.

“I said you wouldn’t believe it, Blake Shelton pulled me out,” said Hartman. “Told her ‘you better slick up, we’ll be there in just a minute.'”

“It was great,” he continued. “He’s a good fella I think, I like him.”

Shelton is known as a proud Oklahoma native, and no stranger to lending a hand when his home state needs help. He was instrumental in organizing “Healing in the Heartland,” the 2013 benefit concert that raised money in the wake of the deadly EF5 tornado that hit Moore, Oklahoma.
