Joe Belfiore, the Corporate Vice President of Microsoft’s operating system division recently made an announcement regarding an improved version of Microsoft Office on the Windows phones. Ironically, the experience of Office for Windows phones is considered the absolute worst; it is more enjoyable and efficient on other platforms as suggested by a tweet that went viral on the internet.
He posted a message promising more information to all windows fans on a Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo.
“Hey fans of windows phone, as I am celebrating New Year’s Day here in the United States and as you all move into the Chinese New Year season, I wanted to send an early Happy New Year and thank you for your ongoing support.
First as we end our 2014, I want to acknowledge the comments and letters you all have sent, noting that you have been frustrated seeing Microsoft launch new applications like Office on iOS and Android, without accompanying news around what will happen on windows phone. I want to assure you that our Office team has not forgotten windows phone – we’re just aligning all of our news and announcements to a single event. You will hear much more about what we have planned before Chinese New Year.
Second my team in China has finally endowed me with a Chinese name which means modesty creates success. I am excited about the new work and new software that is coming in 2015. Our team in China has been writing features specifically for the China market and you will get a chance to see a few of these in the coming months.”
The Chinese New year falls on February 19th, Thursday and we therefore hope to hear word about the developments on a new version of Office for Windows phones soon. It would be in their best interests to announce news on or before 21st January, 2015 as it launches a new consumer-focused preview build of Windows 10.
