How Mobile Marketing Will Enhance Your Current Recruiting Efforts

By Amanda Haddaway | Small Business

We’ve been hearing about the war on talent for years, but the reality is that recruiting top talent into your organization is getting harder.

Smart companies will use whatever tools they can to identify and engage both active and passive job seekers. One effective way to do this is through the use of mobile technologies.

According to Pew Internet, there are more than 208 million mobile subscribers across the U.S. and it is predicted that mobile devices will be the primary internet connection for the majority of people across the world in the next decade.

As recruiters, we must embrace mobile technologies now because our candidates will expect us to use them proficiently.

So, what are some ways to integrate mobile into your current recruiting strategies? Here are some great ways to get started:

    1. Use microsites to customize your content for each job category or recruiting event. This can be particularly effective with college recruiting. It’s easy to set-up a microsite for each college or university where you recruit and you can brand the content to make it specific to that location.
    2. Include QR codes in your recruitment materials. The QR code can direct the candidate back to a microsite with tailored content or your company’s main website.
    3. Be comfortable with communicating with candidates in new ways. We tend to be tied to email, but also consider that some candidates prefer to correspond via text.
    4. For candidates who are located in different geographic locations, it might make sense to use video chat options that are available through your mobile devices (FaceTime, Skype, etc.). This can be a huge convenience factor for the candidate and also save your organization travel budget dollars.

Mobile recruiting tools should enhance your existing recruiting strategy. By successfully implementing some of these items, your time-to-fill and cost-per-hire could be dramatically reduced.
