LinkedIn Answers is No More – Do You Even Care?
I know a lot of people didn’t even bother to get involved in LinkedIn Answers, but I sure did!
I absolutely loved LinkedIn Answers, I even wrote a whole chapter on it for a book.
But on January 31, 2013, they did away with the feature.
When I went into LinkedIn Answers, it was hoppin’! New questions were being asked and answered by the minute. People were making connections left and right and in turn, gaining business because of their expertise.
Whenever I got involved in answering questions on LinkedIn, because I would answer the question so thoroughly, I would get so many responses from not just the one who originally asked the question, but also from those who read my answer.
I actually developed real business from answering questions on LinkedIn because I was showing off my expertise effortlessly.
It only took 10-20 minutes of my time each week to answer questions and it was just a really great way to meet new people, build relationships and potentially build business.
Here’s what they have to say about LinkedIn Answers disappearing:
As of January 31, 2013, the LinkedIn Answers feature will be retired from LinkedIn. We’ll be focusing our efforts on the development of new and more engaging ways to share and discuss professional topics across LinkedIn. In the meantime, you can still pose questions and facilitate professional discussions through other popular LinkedIn channels including LinkedIn Polls, Groups, or status updates.
This makes me believe that they’re going to be developing something better, so I’m hopeful. But I sure wish they wouldn’t have gotten rid of LinkedIn Answers without having something better to replace it with.
I think they should have gotten rid of Groups. I have never gotten any business, referrals or built my community from Groups. I have tried and tried and tried. But all it is a bunch of people promoting themselves over and over again. And why shouldn’t they? Nothing else is going on. At least LinkedIn Answers was helping people. People would ask relevant questions and get relevant answers.
Did you ever use LinkedIn Answers? Do you even know what it is? Do you even care that it’s gone?
