The story reported by Startup Dating that focuses on the tech developments in Japan stated that the decision to have a new base is with respect to its focus on the Asian growth. The city which is already a hub of popular tech companies in Japan such as CyberAgent, Gumi, Mixi, etc. will bring the messaging app makers in a closer proximity to the Asian continent.

The new setup, which has still two more years to go before it is opened for operations, will be accommodating around 1000 people. A definite move by the Japanese company to attract local talents while contributing to local economy.

While targeting new sources of revenue Line has also focused on making its base stronger in the Asian continent. The app recently launched its services in India with the introduction of two new TVC’s targeting the youth of the country. One of the TVC is promoting the free voice chat feature of the app and the other TVC is focussing on Stickers or rich emoticons communication.

The India expansion comes after it recently planned to double its efforts in Taiwan by opening a new office and kicking off a fresh recruitment drive in the region. Focusing on the US market, the app is trying to scale up there too.

Indeed, the free messaging app which is inching towards 200 million users, is no more just an app; it is transforming into an entertainment company. A thought shared by Jeanie Han, who heads LINE’s business in three regions – Asia, Europe and US.
