As automakers start to ramp up for the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, we are generally treated to a barrage of pre-show online debuts. One such debut is the Infiniti Q30 Concept, a new vision for a compact luxury vehicle by the Japanese premium brand, which will be shown live on September 10 in Frankfurt.
According to Infiniti, the Q30 Concept is a “unique fusion of body styles merging the dynamic design and sportiness of a coupe, the roominess of a hatch and the higher stance of a crossover.”
The concept features design cues in step with recent Infiniti production and concept models, including the notched rear pillar, opposing grille, and flowing fender lines.
It is unclear what segments or vehicles Infiniti is targeting with this concept. BMW X1? Audi A3? Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class? According to Infiniti, they are creating a whole new segment, but those customers have to come from somewhere. We’re not sure about its placement in the market, but we are quite sure that this concept is foreshadowing a tangible production model in the year(s) to come.
