Whether you are a Game Of Thrones fanatic, or just an occasional viewer, our infographic lists all the real-life locations of that amazing world. In Iceland you can walk in the footsteps of Jon Snow as he leaves Winterfell to join the Night Watch, a military order dedicated to holding the Wall. This immense fortification on the northern border of the Seven Kingdoms was built to hold back the Others and a visit to Vatnajökull will show you the area beyond the Wall where the Wildlings live.

Why not have your photo taken near the Azure Window on Gozo, where Daenerys Targaryen married Khal Drogo, the powerful warlord of the fearsome Dothraki nomads. Or fly to exotic Morocco, then drive to the incredible town of Essaouira, which was the location for the city of Astapor on Slaver’s Bay. You won’t be able to buy any of the Unsullied slaves there, but it is a watersports’ paradise being perfect kitesurfing and windsurfing when you have tired of walking around the fortified ramparts of this 18th century town.

If you prefer not to travel too far from home, then Northern Ireland will be the perfect place to visit. Although Game of Thrones is an American drama series most of it was filmed in a Belfast studio the majority of filming took place in Northern Ireland, where the rugged yet beautiful landscape provided a stunning scenic backdrop. The 17th century farmhouse of Castle Ward became Winterfell, the ancestral castle and seat of power of House Stark. Located in the centre of the northern province of the Seven Kingdoms, Winterfell is close to the Kingsroad that runs from King’s Landing to the Wall and the Dark Hedges, one of the most photographed natural phenomena in Northern Ireland, is used as the backdrop for the road.
