Emma Stone is obsessed with her new role on Broadway. The 26-year-old actress recently took over the role of Sally Bowles from Michelle Williams in the hit musical Cabaret.

Stone tells Bang Showbiz that she has wanted to play the role since she was a child. “I’ve wanted to play Sally Bowles since I was 10, and saw Natasha Richardson in ‘Cabaret’.”

The actress adds, “I don’t think I’ve ever been so truly obsessed with a character or a story. I can’t believe it’s actually happening. Rob Marshall [co-director with Sam Mendes] said to me that Sally is like ‘Hamlet’ for women.”

Speaking to Vanity Fair, her co-star in Cabaret, Alan Cumming, reveals, “It’s unusual for young actresses to get such completeness in a role. Sally is vulnerable, tragic, funny, unlikable, heartbreaking. And then she gets whacked across the face with an epiphany.”

When previously asked about her excitement for the role, the Birdman actress said, “I’m scared s***less! But I’ve wanted to play that part since I was, strangely, nine years old, which is way too young.”

If there’s one thing we know about Emma Stone, it’s that she throws herself into everything she does. Just watch her lip-syncing for Jimmy Fallon:

While she is busy working on Broadway, Emma Stone is also attached to several big projects, including an untitled Cameron Crowe project, an untitled Woody Allen film, and a voiced role as Eep in The Croods 2.

Emma Stone has been getting a ton of support for her broadway turn, including a visit from boyfriend Andrew Garfield during her debut night. According to Us Weekly“Andrew came sharply dressed in a suit. [He] came backstage after the show with Emma’s mother and his guests. He kissed her and congratulated her.”

Emma Stone will continue with the Cabaret role through February 1, 2015.

As she proclaims in her lip sync battle, all she does these days is win… win… win.
