Corvette Stingray vs Nissan GT-R: How Do They Stack Up?

The new Stingray is a Corvette of epic proportions. It’s one of the first Corvettes in a long time that Chevy really sharpened its pencils with. But how does it compare to the competition? Can us knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing Americans compete with supercar royalty the likes of the Nissan GT-R? That’s an interesting question.

In reality, there’s not a lot of similarities between the two. The GT-R boasts one of the most advanced all-wheel drive systems around, while the Corvette gets on powered by the rear wheels. The 2014 GT-R is about $100K, while the lowly Corvette is just half of that ($50K). And the list goes on.

Power numbers would tell you that the GT-R would be the way to go. But it isn’t always about sheer power. Handling, braking, and even interior comfort are just a few other factors to look at when determining which of these high-powered sportscars is actually best.

Our friends at Edmunds recently put the Corvette and GT-R head to head on the track and through the paces, and it heeded some surprising results. It gives us a better idea of just how sheer power doesn’t always equal pure performance. You can watch it here:
