Here’s something we don’t hear about much these days: A high-level executive arriving at, rather than leaving, BlackBerry. Business Insider notes that BlackBerry this week has hired former SAP mobile services boss John Sims to be its new president of global enterprise services. Sims’ hire suggests that, after months of high-level executive blood-letting, BlackBerry might now be focussed on getting the right team in place for its latest turnaround attempt. Interim CEO John Chen has a lot to do to stabilize BlackBerry’s business after the company’s ill-fated attempt to take itself private went bust and sent its share prices plummeting to 10-year lows. The new executive’s first big test will come later this week when he outlines his plans for taking BlackBerry forward during the company’s third-quarter earnings call.
