Is it normal for a business owner to participate in his or her own business?

My uncle owns a chain a local Del Taco's and sometimes he'll be behind the counter making tacos
I own a strip club/messenger service and sometimes I'll be there dancing

Yes, very common, other than businesses in the form of corporations. You wouldn't want to see random McDonalds' shareholders behind the counter putting their hands on your food.

Sure is as just about 98% of small businesses have owner involvement in it one way or another so this is the norm in the Business world. Happy New Year
