Can a clothing company obtain a patient on the shirts they make ?

That's a trick question.

They can patent it, if the shirt is made of unique materials they invented, or if the shirt is manufactured using a unique process they created.

Other than that, if you just mean it has a logo, or certain kind of design to it, you would have to copyright it. Actually, if it has a unique logo or name on it, you trademark the logo/name.
