Three weeks does sound a little long. They do need to verify everything (Death certificate, policy in good standing, Beneficiary status(es), policy limits, etc) but it should only take 1 to 2 weeks as long as you have all of the paperwork in that they need. If you have already filed your paperwork, give them a call and verify that they have everything they need. Once they say they have everything, it should be pretty quick. If they have not sent a check within a week of that, give them a call again and try to get a manager. Ask what is taking so long (as nicely as you can, because it does help). Ask if there is anything you can do to help the speed things up.
