    Question

I have a 520 credit score. Can I get an auto loan for $9,000 anywhere?

My bills are now all current and I can afford a car payment. Is there anywhere that I can financing?

With a 520 you will probably need a co-signer. Some fly-by-night place may loan it to you at an exorbitant interest rate. i.e 22%

    • It really depends on what is showing on your credit report. Score ain't everything but a 520 will make it very difficult to find financing and it will definitely NOT be at a good interest rate. You may want to hold off and concentrate on building some good payment history to improve your score. You will need at least 24 months of consistent, on time payment history to improve your score. If you don't have an open, active line of credit, get a credit card, even if you have to get a secured card. Use the card for small purchases and pay in full every month.

    • 520 is not a good score. Finding a loan will be difficult and the interest rate will likely be high. If you can delay the purchase for a year or but something less expensive, you should consider that

    • No The only place you *might* get financing, would be a "Buy Here/Pay Here" type of lot. You will still need a down payment for these cars, and they will sell you an older car that is going to be way overpriced, and have a double digit interest rate to boot. It will basically set you up for failure.

    • You may be able to, but it would probably require a high interest rate or a co-signer. I must concur with other posters, wait a year to get your credit better. Or even better, start saving up ASAP, ten to twenty percent of your net income, put it into savings with each paycheck. That way you can save your way to a car and you don't have to rely on credit or a high interest loan. If that's not possible you may look into getting a co-signer to help you get the loan. Review your credit report, is there anything inaccurate on there? Go ahead and call the company to dispute it if so.
