Does USPS use FEDEX?
USPS leases space on FedEx planes for the transport of Express Mail nad Priority Mail, as well as UPS and Commercial Airlines. USPS does NOT hand off delivery to any other company. If something is sent with USPS, it stays with USPS. Ont he other hand, UPS, FedEx & DHL DO use USPS to deliver some of their packages. In your case, your item was shipped by FedEx from the start.

I believe that USPS outsources some shipping to Fedex. They tried beating Fedex at their own game and couldn't... "If you can't beat them, join them". It's kind of like how GM and Ford will cooperate on car ideas sometimes. Wish I had a stronger answer for ya.
