This Week’s Topic = Five Reasons to Hire a Marketer

Whether you’re just starting out, or you’ve been in business for some time now, if you don’t have a marketer on your team you could be missing out on big opportunities. There are tools and “experts” out there that could teach you how to do some marketing on your own, but if you don’t truly commit yourself to learning the field (and truth be told, you might not want to), then hiring someone to do it for you makes all the sense in the world.

Here are five reasons to hire someone:

  1. Organic growth will only go so far. That doesn’t mean that you’ve peaked. In fact, when things are going well is when I would most recommend hiring a marketer, because they will be able to capitalize on your success. If you wait until things are stagnant, there may be little a marketer can do.
  2. Stop missing opportunities. If spend your time working on new products, helping customers, managing employees, and doing the countless other things it takes to run a business, there is no way you are dedicating enough time to marketing. And that means that opportunities are passing you by. A marketer will devote every second to capitalizing on those opportunities for you.
  3. Time to test new channels. There are surely things that you would do if you had the time. But if you’re not in the field, you won’t be aware of all the channels that could be driving people to your business as a marketer will be. Let them worry about how to bring in new customers while you worry about how to please every single one of them.
  4. Spend your time on more important things. You don’t want to spend your time on marketing. You got into business for other reasons. You have skills that serve the business better if you’re not spending half of your time trying to be the marketer, too.
  5. Create a job. We all want to do our part for the greater good. Job creation is an amazing thing, and anytime you can afford to create a job, you should.

As always, if you have your own tips, please include them in the comments below.
