The Merion Golf Club plays host to its fifth US Open Championship this week and first since 1981, when Australian David Graham lifted the famous trophy.
While Aussie Masters champion Adam Scott goes for his second career major, favourite Tiger Woods could be set to land his fourth US Open crown. The world number one last won this event in 2008 at Torrey Pines and with four trophies from eight tournaments this season is a good bet to clinch the title.
Woods would match the record for most US Open wins, shared by Jack Nicklaus and three others. Nicklaus won his four over an 18-year period between 1962 and ’80, yet it has only been 13 years since Woods first lifted the US Open Trophy.
Woods’ main rival is certainly Phil Mickelson, who has finished second on five occasions but never won the US Open, and betting fans can expect another close shave from the leftie this weekend.
