Question
I'm on Income Support, do i get child tax too?
I've just had a baby 4 weeks ago and i'm on Income Support, i've received a letter saying that its been topped up from £50 to £64...is this because the child tax credit is topped on to that or is child tax credit a totally different payment to this??

child tax credits are nothing to do with the jobcentre benefits, you need to apply for them through the tax office. you can go to HMRC online and use the " do i qualify " section to find out if your entitled to it, and an estimated figure on how much you could get. there is a number on there you ring to do your application, they will then send u forms. they will not backdate any further than 12 weeks if there have been circumstances beyond your control as to why you didnt send your forms back. you claim does not go from when you ring up like they do with income support, it goes from when they get your forms back
