Best place to build a website?

I am wanting to build a professional website, that will allow many pages. I keep hearing different things about which one people use, but I don't want free. I want something that can be used professionally, will help me be listed higher in the search engines, and has hardly any downtime. So I guess I'm looking for the best one for websites, as well as hosting. I appreciate any and all advice but would prefer to hear from others making money from their own website, thank you.
