Question

real estate agents/brokers please help?

I am 19 about to get my real estate license in Florida. I have heard so many things. I just want to know what I should do after getting my license? How to get listings? What I will have to spend on marketing? Things like that. I am very interested in becoming a real estate agent but have questions. Another one is How do I know what to price a home? Thanks guys. I understand I am young but I do not think that matter in a real estate world. Would it cost me to join a brokerage or something of that sort?

Norman, first keep your day job until you can build up your business. This is not an easy business today. You will need to find the best way for YOU to prospect and do it daily. It takes money to advertise, but you have to get your NAME out there, not the company. I suggest you start your career with a Coldwell Banker or Prudential, a national firm that can provide not only training, but mentors. Small companies may charge you less, but are they really giving your the best start? Training is key. Learn your home styles, learn all you can about MLS and the area you want to work in. It's a ton of work, but can be very satisfying.

You will learn most of what you need to know once you actually join a real estate brokerage firm. Generally, other seasoned agents will give you knowledge and tips to get you going. Don't be afraid to buy them donuts or such now and then, as a means of thanks for their help. As another said, for starters, pick a large firm where you have a goodly number of agents who might assist you. As a rather young agent, I'd recommend focusing on 'first time buyers' closer to your own age. Sad to say, older buyers and sellers just might not have high confidence in 'a 19 year old kid'. Of course, it helps if you look older than you really are....:) With hard work and determination, you will find your way into the marketplace. Good luck !

Did they not teach you any of this in Real Estate School? You need to join a firm that has a mentoring program until you can do it on your own. You are helping people make the largest purchases of their life and you shouldn't be on your own until you are an asset instead of a liability.
