Question
I've lived at my new apartment now for close to 7 months?
and I still get the previous tenants mail daily. I go to the post office maybe once every 3-4 weeks, so I just bundle all their mail together, write not at this address and drop it off. Well, about a month and a half ago I got a big brown envelope in the mail for the previous tenant, and it felt like there was bubble wrap lined in there like it might be important. I sat it aside, but have forgotten to take it to the post office. I found it today and it is post marked Sept. 25. If I took it out to the post office, would I get in any sort of trouble for holding onto someone else's mail for almost a month? Thanks Sorry, this may not be the right category. I had no idea which one it would fit best into.

No You are NOT the personal secretary of the previous tenant. Don't fret over it. Next time you go to the post office, just drop it off with their other mail. They may be hiding from someone (landlord, bill collectors) and that is why they did not leave a forwarding address and you are getting the mail.

No you wouldn't, you shouldn't have to keep going to the post office they should of straightened it our the first time you went. So you're not at fault just take it to the post office but don't throw it away incase it is important.

I would actually call the previous tenant. I am very sure your apartment landlord will have information about the previous tenant. If you can't get a hold of the previous tenant then just do what you feel is the right thing to do.
