Question
how it can be possible something like this?
yesterday somebody came to my door it was not the police, this guy asked me if I am the owner and I said no, he gave me some papers to give to my owner, he has to go to the courte because he is not paying the mortgage for at least 6 months, after he gave the papers he said: "about you you have to move in 7 days or you will be arrested and they will put your furniture in the street" I couldn't speak anymore and I forgot to ask him who he was, who sent him here. It is really true that I have 7 days to move out?? It sounds creazy, I have a little child, it is winter time, I was told that this guy just wanted to scare me but who was this guy? The bank paid him to bring me the papers? Is that true that after the judgment the bank will send me a notice letting me know how many months I can still stay? PLEASE HELP ME I am very scared thank you very much I feel much better, I called the tenents unit and I was told to call the police if somebody will cut my gas or electricity because it is illegal

What do these papers he dropped off say? Is it a court date to foreclose on the property? If so, and you have been making your rental payments on time, if the place does go to auction, you would have 90 days to move (unless the new owners wanted to keep renting to you) per a new law that was signed in May of 2009. Whomever dropped those papers off and told you you had 7 days if full of baloney and really should be read the riot act. People like him rely on the ignorant to just be too scared to find out what the real deal is.

You don't have anything to worry about. Several issues: 1. Asking if you are "the owner" is irrelevant. A process server should ask if you are "John Smith", who is to be served with papers. 2. You can't be evicted without being served properly.
