About starting a website - what questions do I ask when shopping around?

I have an appointment tomorrow and can't remember what I'm supposed to be looking for. I had researched all that the last time I shopped around and then didn't end up getting a website at that time. Could someone refresh me on the basics to look for? Doesn't it differ greatly with different companies - how many search engines you appear on? My website won't be large so I don't need a lot of space. The main thing is I, like everyone else, want a lot of traffic. But I remember there were other things to ask and I'm trying to remember what those questions were. Any help appreciated!

With out knowing what you are trying to achieve with your website I don't have many recommendations for you, however you need control of it if you want to change web masters, you need to own the domain name that's a big mistake people make they pay some one to build and host a website and the webmaster buys the domain and they are the owner not you!!!! I have some websites and I get up good in google, yahoo and bing it's not hard to do your self it took me a couple of years to figure out things these high priced geeks won't tell you and they charge you thousands to do simple thing you could do yourself. Contact me I do it for a hobby I am free and I will help you get your URL / Domain in your name and get you a nice website up and running I can show you how to put a blog, a forum, an e commerece store a free classifieds and many more features that are free if you buy you server space at the right place fo just 50 dollars a year.
