Can I get a loan if I've worked at the same company as an independent contractor and employee?
I'm looking to buy a home, but here's my situation: I've worked at the same job since August of 2007, It started off as a temp service, and then the company hired me on with benefits, then I decided to go 1099 (independent contractor), and now am about to get hired back on as an actual employee. OH, and the company got sold to another along the way.. So instead of the loan officer saying "well it shows you've had five jobs in two years", can I convince them that I've been at the same job for over two years? I went 1099 at the beginning of THIS august, so I was an employee for just under two years, and 1099 for 3 or 4 months.. I'm not trying to cheat the system, I'm just trying to find out how the lenders are going to look at my position

I don't think you are going to have a problem if you explain how things have been at this place since you started. They also would verify your employment and want tax returns etc.
