Your question caught my attention, since I live in Pasadena. There's a new apartment worth checking out: www.theaquasuites.com Its price range is between $800-$950, and it's equipped with a bed frame, all-new fridge and a flat screen TV. A really great deal for a *brand new* apartment. My friend lives there. The others are more pricey (though they're much older places- sooo not worth your money). I'd say you can try looking up the Aqua Suites.
