What's a fair percentage to pay a person who sells things for you on eBay?

There are a number of different variables. Are you paying the listing fees and final value fees or is that considered part of what the listing agent pays? How much effort is spent writing up and listing your item? Who is doing the write-up, you or the agent? What about shipping, etc? I have listed a lot of consignments on ebay for other people. I charge 25-35% based on me paying ebay fees and I still wonder if I'm even making minimum wage for my efforts. For me the fun is more rewarding than the percentage anyway.

We sell things on consignment. Not on e-bay. We handle, describe, price, advertise, invoice, pack and ship, and send checks once a month. We have a sliding scale. All calculations done after commission costs to the website are paid. 50% on anything under that sells under $100; Commission drops and share to the owner rises as the value goes up. One cannot do it for less when you consider handling, storage, shipping, insurance, time, energy, computers, software, etc. Good Luck.
