Question
Will living by a grocery store and a shopping plaza decrease the value of my home?
I am looking at a home that fits my needs. My question is to know if the proximity to a shopping plaza may decrease the value of my home and make it hard to sell in the future. The grocery store is not Walmart. Thanks

Almost anything can lower the value in someones eyes and raise it in others. I live 2 blocks from 2 different grocery stores and a half a block behind a strip mall. I love it. I bought here precisely because it was close to stuff.

I have moved around a lot. My main thing this time is to live closer to a walmart. So yes, a grocery store will increase your values. I also looked for nearby "good" schools. I loved my old home. I lived close to an "expensive" grocery store - but it was convenient to walk with the stroller to it. Availability of walking to places is a big plus if there are sidewalks. /

I lived above a grocery store once in a rental and loathed it because of all the delivery trucks and other traffic the store brought. It depends on how close the shopping plaza is to your home.
