Question

STAMP DUTY FOR HOUSES - PLEASE HELP!?

Is stamp duty for houses determined on a property's improved or unimproved value? I was thinking improved but somebody said it wasn't. Also, it's for Australia - it might be different overseas but I'm still happy to hear your thoughts!

Stamp Duty only refers to the purchase price of the property when you buy. So if you want to complete improvements go ahead, stamp duty will have no bearing. The only I can think of which may effect the property improved value would be your council rates which generally is reviewed every two years
