renting a home for really cheap?
im try to find a bigger place so i went on craigs list and found a 3bedroom 2bath plus loft house for a $1000.00 per month and that is really cheap for the area (san diego CA) the guy that owns it lives out of state and had told me that he did try to sell it before but for investment reasons he now would like to rent im so worry with all the scams and foreclose going on i don't know what to do?

You are right - you have no way of knowing if this guy really owns this property. Tell him you'll pay 1st/last & security if he can show you 1) his drivers license - 2) his paper work on the house/apartment/condo (purchase agreement/mortgage payments/condo CCs&R, lease agreement on Apartment / condo that allows subletting (that's you).

This is definitely a scam and very common on CL. DO NOT send them any money. If it seems too good to be true it is.
