What are the Monthly Charges for Renting an Aprtment?
Me an my girlfriend have been looking into renting a flat for a while now and our finance are such that it is possible to do it next year. I have done a bit of reserach and found the following monthly charges; Rent Council Tax Utility Bills Internet/TV/Phone etc I have seen something about service charges but one source has said it is payable by the landlord whereas other have said it is payable by the tenant. Can someone please tell me then monthly carges associated with renting an apartment? Thanks Chris

If you are renting, service charges are usually included in the rent: the contract will make this clear. Usually it's only the flats in bigger blocks that have service charges which are used to cover costs such as cleaning of general areas, repairs & renovations to the building, grounds maintenance, building insurance and so on. In smaller places, the landlord attends to all this (or should!).
