ebay payment not received even though it says it was?

I sold a cell phone on ebay last week. It was only $25. Once I got an email saying my item sold, I sent the invoice to the buyer. Only about a day later, it said my payment was received. Since I only had 1 business day to ship the phone I sent it the next day. I used shipping so that the object would be there the next day from PA to AZ. I sent an email to the buyer asking them to email me when they got the phone just to make sure nothing had happened over shipping but I got nothing. It had said on ebay that my payment was received but in both my paypal and bank account there was nothing. I know my paypal works because I used it the day before to buy something and that transaction went right through my bank account fine. I sent the phone this past Monday and there is still nothing in either. I am new to all this ebay and paypal so is there something I did wrong or did I not get payed? I sent the buyer an email about this but I'm afraid this might escalate to a fight or something because I didn't know exactly how to send someone an email asking for money they supposedly sent. Did I possibly go to far? Even though it's only $25 it's still important to me. This money will either buy me food for a week or help pay my rent. What should I do?
