Question

Can I cancel a cc fraud claim after I return the affidavit?

I recently filed a fraud claim on my card because a merchant from europe charged it up to the tune of $2500. I didn't recognize the merchant at all, as the description the credit card company had for the merchant is in no way related to the actual charge. I am now remembering that I had authorized a $50.00 charge and thinking that it was charged through this merchant and they decided to take some extra. Can I call and amend my claim? or change it do a billing dispute? I have already returned an affidavit of unauthorized use and I don't want to go to jail for perjury because I forgot about this one charge, that by the way, the amount does not match the charge either. I authorized $50.00 and my card was charged $49.99. I never received the product I bought either so either way the original charge is fraudulent, but I can't remember if it was a securecode transaction or not.

If they charged you $2500 for $50 transaction then just leave it in fraud, it will be easier to get your money back. If you really feel concerned about it then call your credit card company and explain what happened. Just keep in mind that they might not agree with you during the billing dispute and you might get screwed in the end. I would just wait and see what happens.
