Question

How can i increase my credit limit?

What are the best ways to increase my credit limit? Not my credit score. I want ideas of things to do. I know getting loans are a huge impact but i don't need any loans so there is no point in getting myself caught up in that. Can leasing a car get it higher? Or anything else? Any ideas please. And i always pay my credit card on time - never a late payment. i don't need ideas like that. Thanks =] i have 2 credit cards and pay my payments in full every time. in those two years one credit card increased my limit. i don't want to ask for it because i've heard that brings down my credit score which is something i rather not do.

ASK for one. That is the BEST and sometimes ONLY way to get one.

There is only one way to get a higher credit limit. And that is to increase your credit worthiness/rating/score. There is only one way to raise that score. Pay your credit card bill in full, and watch the rating skyrocket. It is 100% myth that carrying balances is good for your rating - when exactly the opposite is true. Something that old ladies that shop QVC will tell you. Pay in full - see 800+ scores - get credit cards with no limits. It's the only way - making loans and paying interest will only reduce your rating. Leasing a car is considered subprime (for the desparate). It will reflect badly on your reports. Don't mess with your reports - employers look at those before they hire you. Don't mess up your life! /

Your two issues are inter-related. To increase your credit score will raise your credit limit. 1) Lower or eliminate your credit card debt. 2) Ask the credit card company for a higher limit. 3) Don't just make credit card payments on time. Always pay more than the minimum payment. Better yet pay off the credit card each month. 4) Have only one credit card account open. The more cards the lower your credit score. I hope this has been helpful.

Some companies will only increase your limit if you request this. Some do it automatically. Be careful if you request it though. Some of the predatory lenders(first premier comes to mind) charge you a fee for raising your limit. This fee can sometimes eat up most of the increase.

Ask for the credit limit increase. If you have the account more than one year they might increase the limit without doing credit check. If they mention that they will have to do credit check, ask them not to do that. When I requested, they increased $1000 without credit check.

It depends on the company that holds your credit card. Some credit card companies allow you to request it online via soft pull such as CITI and bank of america. On bofa you have to input annual household income and stuff like that, while on citi you just have to click the magic button. Chase eliminated the credit increase option from their online menu 2 months ago. For Discover you have to call them. Every time you ask for a credit increase they check your credit report, so make sure its okay. Some companies such as chase are reluctant to increase it while others do it automatically.
