Question

maybe moving out of apartment after 24years.?

Me and family have lived in this apartment for 24 years and would like to leave. Never moved out before so I would like some tips. My new landlord wants the money this Saturday but also my rent is due this Saturday and I cant pay both. I want to give my current landlord 30 days in advance so I will have to pay him Dec 1 as well. My concern is that since i have lived there for 24 years the apartment is not in the best shape lol. My landlord was cheap in repairs lol. My bathroom door (it slides) wont open all the way. My concern is that he would sue us for it lol. We notice everytime he had to fix something he would raise the rent so we did not say anything lol. So I appreciate any tips and I would like to know who should I pay first. The landlord approached us with the offer for the new apartment (he told us 6 days ago lol)

FAt chance by law that he is going to get anything from you if you have been there 24 years. I would not worry.

Well, if you paid a deposit/last months rent when you moved in, he would owe you interest on it for 24 years. It is most likely 1.5% compounded annually. So, say you paid $300 deposit: End of year one- 300x1.015=304.5 year two- 304.5x1.015=309 year three- 309x1.015=313.64 And so on, you 24 years would add up, so be sure to ask for your interest back as well, not just the deposit
