Question
Just turned 18 and getting kicked out. I need some kind of housing assistance?
Ever since I turned 18, my parents have been urging me to move out. Thing is, I only have a part time job at a store and make about 600 dollars a month. I live in Washington state and even studio apartments cost that much alone. Is there some kind of housing assistance I can get from the government? I'm not qualified for any other job and I'm afraid if I quit this one I won't find another one with today's economy. Is there anything I can do?

Unfortunately, you need to find a 2nd part time job. Point out to your parents that you can only afford to rent a room and why don't you pay them rent instead of to someone else.

Pick up a second job. I've heard pizza delivery highly recommended because of the tips. The government does have housing assistance for low income individuals. I can't think of what it's called off the top of my head, but I know it's available.

1 look for a roommate or a person needing a roommate 2 Ask your employer for 40 hours per week. 3 Find a job that offers you at least 40 hours a week. 4 Dont go looking for welfare / section 8 housing or any kind of handouts. That is for losers! 5 Go to your local college and get enrolled, all schools offer tution assistance. Look at the positive side of your situation.

You do not qualify for "assistance" as you are low income by your own choice. Make another choice, like a full time job or additional part time jobs. There are progrqams for the disabled, but if you are fully abled you will have to live with your life style choices.

From the info you gave - you will not qualify. Housing assistance is primarily for the disabled and families. Single people that just do not work enough do not typically qualify. Even if you could qualify the waiting lists are years long. You will just have to get a 2nd or 3rd job it that is what it takes.
