You will be hard pressed to find companies that will donate their foods to you in the down economy right now so you and the leaders and the other classmates who will be helping out need to get together before beginning any of it and really figure everything out. The businesses will want to know if they can add fliers or announcements for their company to the products, if you will become competition for them for the length of time you plan to hold the fundraiser, and where the money you will make off of their donation will go to. Bakeries may be willing to donate breads and cookies, even cupcakes as those are typically the cheapest to make. Or have students sign up to bake cookies and then wrap them up by threes. Have the home-ec class bake and decorate cakes you can then auction off. The highest bidder gets the cake and you get their money. Pizza places may be willing to donate pizzas you can sell per slice. Dollar Stores or Dollar Generals may be willing to donate paper plates and napkins so that you can sell the foods that people can't necessarily carry with their hands. A lot of restaurants may be willing to give you discount tickets to sell so that you can still make money but so can they at a later time. Make a list of items you really want to sell and with each company you call, once you have asked if they are willing to help out and receive a yes, make some suggestions.

A letter to a business should contain , introduction, purpose of fund raising, request for donation, offer to provide recognition to their business (Donor Wall/Roll list), thank you end. Ensure you reach the management office and use their name. Keep it short and to the point yet friendly. Other ideas --> games, dance, bake sale, raffle, art show, fashion show. Keep it fun and interesting.
