Question

Unemployed, broke, depressed and do not know where to get help...?

I was recently laid off from a part time job, I'm a full time student, the income was necessary for me to supplement my student loans. Unemployment is giving me a hard time based on the income I was receiving, they have not denied completely but are not paying pending an interview. My rent is due in 5 days and I have 150 dollars in the bank. I filed for assistance but have not heard back. I have not spoken to the manager of my complex yet as I was expecting unemployment to go through until today and thought I would be okay at least for another month. To make matters worse I am severely depressed and my doctor put me prozac yesterday. He also referred me to the hospital behavioral health for depression, alcohol abuse and grief reaction (my father passed a year ago) I have no health insurance. I am withdrawing from school as i cannot concentrate with all the financial problems. Does anyone know of any emergency assistance in Illinois? I do have somewhere to go if evicted. Am I better off just leaving to avoid eviction and let them place a judgement against me?

ok 1st off tell your property manager that unemployment has NOT kicked in yet so you will be late with your rent , hopefully he or she will work with you. Go to your nearest Catholic church they may be able to assit you with some rent money . Call Catholic charities and also st vincents de paul. Go to the dept of social services they too may be able to help and get you food stamps and medicade. sell whatever you can it sucks but you have to. unemployment goes according to quarters so they need to see how many quarters you worked. call again ask for a supervisor and say you need an interview asap. stay positive it is a pain for the landlord to evict you but if you continue having problems you should leave. do you have a Friend or family you can stay with? concentrate on school and if you can take an exercise or gym class there to relieve your stress. things will get better just stay positive

if you sign a note --a new contract of payment obligation; agreeing to pay $25 a mo till you are working, I am guessing they will trust you for now on that and not sue you. just leave after getting this agreement with your housing officer. both my parents left.....decades ago, my grieving period was 1 mo for each. booze confuses the issues. Get off the booze. go walk in the woods. safe and with nature. then, visit a hospital or nursing home and find others worse off than you--and if it gets overwhelming, leave. i found that if I walk 2-4 miles, after a while I start actually focusing on the walk and not on my sadness.
