Question
Good private health insurance.?
I'm a nurse that got offered a good job at a rehabilitation center. I was so excited that they called me,but, had to turn it down when I found out that the health insurance cost over $1,000/month and they didn't offer dependent coverage. I was so sad because I really wanted that job. Does anyone know of a good private insurance that isn't too overly expensive? $1,000/month is ridiculous! He told me $1000/month, but, I think he said that I would have to pay half of that. But, the even if it's only $500/month, they didn't offer dependent coverage. I most definitely need to have good health coverage for my children, even if I don't have it for myself.

$1,000 a month on a GROUP health insurance plan, has to be wrong. The average group premium for an individual, is just under $500 a month. Private insurance costs are going to be based on your age and your health. If you're 20 and perfectly healthy, a good low/no deductible plan without maternity benefits should run you $200 a month or so.

Um...why not just buy your own insurance? Why tie it to the job especially when you can (if you're healthy) get a plan that YOU CHOOSE on your own. Take the job and buy insurance. They're not mutually inclusive.
