Question
I would like to Move to Atlanta ASAP!?
my husband works for the government and I work as an attorney. we make decent money but we want to move to Atlanta to start our family. we looked at homes about 6 months ago and I fell in love with this home which was perfect, size and price. the issue? his job makes him wait for a transfer which could take some time, maybe a year or 2. I can get a job or wait for a transfer from my firm but nothing is guaranteed, its based on need at the time. I was scanning the internet last week and the home we fell in love with went into pre forclosere and has been approved for a short sale AND the price was reduced. I feel like we should just go for it and get this house and look for jobs. I know the economy is bad but i feel like we should just go ahead and get the house (transfers are available for me at this momemt) because i can afford it. or should I wait for his transfer (since he is government, has better benefits etc)?

Do not put the cart in front of the horse and expect movement! First things first. Payroll comes before things. By quitting both of your jobs for "the perfect home", you and your husband are putting yourselves in financial jeopardy. There is no guarantee that you will quickly find jobs in the Atlanta area. And if you really research the Atlanta market, you will see that there is a huge supply of homes relative to buyers, so you have plenty of time to find jobs FIRST, then secure the house. Don't spend so much time looking at the sky that you ignore where your feet are heading. You need to anchor your finances with guaranteed jobs and all else will come into place.
