What should I do? (eBay question)?

This seller was trying to get me to pay him outside of ebay, I refused so he listed the item on ebay. I checked his feedback to which others said they recieved their items, I even personally asked one of them (who said they had recieved the same item that I was buying) if he was trustworthy to which they replied yes. So, I made my purchase and when I signed in today, I checked the status of the item and it said he/she was no longer a registered member. I AM VERY ANGRY AND DEMAND MY MONEY BACK! I have made several purchases on ebay and now I have been ripped off. I have filed a claim with paypal is there any additional steps I can take?
